Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland illustrations by Arthur Rackham

There’s something really creepy about these pictures. But then Alice in Wonderland IS creepy. There are many unsympathetic and downright scary characters, and you get a lot of the jokes only after you grow up. 

It’s sort of the opposite of Winnie-the-Pooh, although that one also offers a lot for grown ups. It just gets more endearing as you grow up and realize how cutesy it is.

Photographer Kelly McCollam constructs textured landscape portraits using salts, spices and food coloring. She also recreates classic paintings with the use of spices, Vincent van Gogh’s pieces in particular.
